Welcome to my blog! In this post, I’ll share my story of how I got the UAE Golden Visa. I hope it inspires and helps you if you’re planning to move to the UAE with this amazing visa.

I’ve been working as a freelance web designer for clients around the globe, all from my home country. But then I thought, why not take advantage of more opportunities and visit different places?

I started looking for a country with good opportunities and a strong technology industry. I discovered that the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is one of the leading countries for technology and innovation, making it a popular destination for tech professionals.

I started looking into the immigration laws and visa system of the UAE (Dubai) and discovered a visa called the Golden Visa.

If you’re confused about UAE and Dubai, here’s a quick explanation: The UAE (United Arab Emirates) is a country with seven emirates, and Dubai is one of them. Dubai is the most famous emirate, known for its skyscrapers and lifestyle, but it’s just one part of the UAE.

In this article, I will share my story about how I got a UAE visa as a web designer, including the challenges I faced and important links that may help you on your journey. Please note, this is not legal advice or visa services; it’s simply my personal experience and information to help guide you.

Choosing the Right UAE Golden Visa Category

I hope you now understand what the UAE Golden Visa is. The first and most important step is to figure out which category is the best fit for you. For example, if you are an investor or a student, you should focus on that category.

In my case, I am a web designer with 10 years of experience and a strong reputation globally. So, I chose the “Artists and Creative Talents” category for my application. Under this category, I listed my professional title as “Senior web designer” when submitting the application.

Each Golden Visa category has specific requirements, and you can find the latest information on the UAE Government portal.

Guide: Steps to Apply for the UAE Golden Visa

I will share all the steps I took to get the visa. Even if you’re applying for a different category, these steps may help with your application. I’m happy to share!

Here are the steps to apply for the UAE Golden Visa in the “Artists and Creative Talents” category as a web designer:

1. Check Eligibility

Make sure you meet the requirements for the “Artists and Creative Talents” category. You should have a strong portfolio and experience in web design.

Let’s think about why the UAE government offers the Golden Visa. It’s to support the country’s economy and bring in talented people from various fields. If you’re a regular artist or working in your own industry, it may not be enough to prove your eligibility. You need to stand out in your field, meaning you must be extraordinary compared to others.

So, how do you test yourself?

In my case, I’ve worked with clients from over 18 different countries as a web designer freelancer, offering remote services. Some of my clients were from Hollywood and other major industries. I’ve also made contributions by helping others with my knowledge, and some media outlets featured me as an inspiring example of a youth from my country working remotely. Additionally, I’ve received several awards in my field, which highlight my excellence and strong online reputation.

After analyzing myself, I believe I am a good fit to apply for the UAE Golden Visa in the talent category. However, this is just my own analysis, and we need to do more. This is just the first step. Similarly, take some time to think about your own work and what you have done that stands out in your field. Gather all the information yourself.

2. Gather All Documents

Gather all necessary documents, including:

    • A valid passport
    • Proof of your web design experience (such as a portfolio, work history, or certificates)
    • Recommendation letters or endorsements (if available)
    • Any awards or recognition in your field (optional but helpful)

I gathered all my documents, like the transcript of my TV interview, media news about me, my work contributions, and my portfolio. I also wrote a summary about myself. If anything wasn’t in English, I had it notarized. Then, I updated my CV and wrote a strong cover letter about my achievements. Finally, I converted everything to PDF and submitted it to the Dubai Arts and Culture Authority.

3. Submit Application on the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority Website

The website “dubaiculture.gov.ae” is the official online platform for the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. It provides information about cultural programs, events, initiatives, and services that promote arts, heritage, and creative industries in Dubai.

Now, you need to fill out a form on the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority website to see if you’re eligible to apply for the UAE Golden Visa. If your documents are approved, you’ll receive an accreditation certificate by email. Then, you can come to Dubai and apply for the Golden Visa.

4. Wait for Approval

Once you submit the application, the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority will review it carefully to see if you are eligible for the Dubai Golden Visa. If they approve your application, you will get a notification by email and will get Accreditation Certificate. It usually takes 7 to 15 days to get a decision. In my case, I was lucky and received approval in just 4 days.

Note: This Accreditation Certificate does not necessarily mean that you obtain a golden visa, as the final approval will be from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, and that according to their procedures.

Here is a screenshot of my email with the greeting message and approval from the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority for my visa request. You will receive the certification in another email attachment. Download the certification, but do not share it on social media or anywhere else.

5. Plan Your Visit to Dubai

Once you get approval and print the certification, gather all your documents and visit the UAE to apply for the Golden Visa.

In my case, I applied for a 2 month of visit visa through a reliable agency in my country. It was a 5-day tour package. After arriving in Dubai, I explored many amazing places. Once the tour ended, I stayed at a hotel and started applying for the visa.

Since I had no experience with visa applications, I had many questions. I found Ameer Center, a trusted agency in Dubai that helps with visa applications. You can visit them in person to ask for advice and learn more about the requirements.

Tips: There are numerous AMER Centers across the UAE. I recommend using Google Maps to find the nearest location and visiting it in person while you are in the UAE.
